SKILLS WORKSHOP
Thursday September 4  ~ 6:30-8:30pm ~ $15
Instructor: Kira Dulaney
This workshop is an intensified, personalized class/help session. Bring your project or questions and get expert help, whether you'd like to learn how to read or modify a pattern, learn a new stitch, finish a garment, or fix mistakes. All levels welcome from intermediate to advanced knitters and crocheters. This is not a beginning knitting or crocheting class, you must already know the basics to attend. This workshop requires advanced sign-up.

 

BEGINNING KNITTING with Kim
Saturdays September 6 & 13 ~ 1-3pm ~ $45
Instructor: Kim Huhta
Learn how to cast on, cast off, knit, purl, and follow a pattern. This class is perfect for those who want to knit scarves, ponchos, hats, pillows, blankets—any of a variety of basic garments and items. Materials: 190 yards or more of worsted weight yarn (ex. 1 skein of Cascade 220 or Brown Sheep Lamb's Pride Worsted) & US size 8 or 9 needles,(Kim: "preferably bamboo straights"). Instructions and pattern will be provided. Registered students receive 15% off class materials.

 

KNITTING LEVEL II: Turkish Bed Socks
Sundays September 7 & 14 ~ 4-6pm ~ $45
Instructor: Amy Keefer
This class will give you "step-by-step" instructions for knitting up these one-skein slipper socks by Churchmouse Classic designs. You will use one skein of Koigu sock yarn and one set of US #3 double pointed needles, locking stitch markers and a tapestry for this class.  Learn to master working on dpns and knitting in the round with this quick project. Registered students receive 15% off class materials.

 

KNITTING LEVEL II: Zebra Cowl
Sundays September 7 & 14 ~ 6-8pm ~ $45
Instructor: Amy Keefer
Take your colorwork knitting to the next level with a fashion forward animal print cowl. This class is perfect for knitters that want to sink their teeth into stranded 2-color knitting and working from charts. Materials: 2 contrasting colors of sport weight yarn, US size 3 (3.25 mm) and US size 5 (3.75) mm circular knitting needles (both 24" in length), stitch markers. Registered students receive 15% off class materials.

 

BEGINNING CROCHET with Kira
Wednesdays September 10 & 17  ~ 6:30-8:30pm ~ $45
Instructor: Kira Dulaney
Crochet is fast and fun. In this two-part class you'll learn the basic stitches while making a cute stuffed bunny and also start a crocheted scarf. We will cover chain stitch, single crochet, half-double crochet, double crochet, and triple crochet.
Materials: 200 yards smooth worsted or aran weight yarn and a size F or G crochet hook, plus darning needle, removable stitch markers and sharp scissors. Bunny pattern and stuffing will be provided as part of the class.
Registered students receive 15% off class materials.

CROCHET LEVEL II: Belle Epoque Shawl
Wednesdays October 8 & 15  ~ 6:30-8:30pm ~ $45
Instructor: Kira Dulaney
Bring your crochet skills to the next level with this elegant shawl, featuring graceful rows of eyelets and a delicate lace edging. Learn how to read the shawl pattern and how to follow the edging instructions in both written and charted form. This is an intermediate class - you should know how to do chain stitch, single crochet, and double crochet. A copy of the pattern is included. 
Materials: 390 yards fingering weight yarn in main color and 100 yards fingering weight yarn in contrast color OR 450 yards fingering weight yarn for solid color shawl, US H (5 mm) crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge, removable stitch marker, yarn needle, pins (for blocking). Registered students receive 15% off class materials.

Stuck? Need help reading a pattern? Forget how to cast-on or off? Help is at hand. 
**All Article Pract customers are welcome, please restrict the projects you bring in to projects made with yarn purchased at our store. 15 minute sessions, no appointment neccessary, and free with purchase.

Hands-On Help is not a substitute for knitting lessons or individual instruction. If you require more help, you may want to consider taking one of our our Level II or intermediate classes or attending our Skills Workshop which happens the first Thursdsay evening of each month. 
We respectfully request that attendees not take advantage of this free service. 

Enroll early as class size is limited. Although we anticipate full registration for all classes, we reserve the right to cancel a class due to poor enrollment. In this circumstance your fee will be refunded in full. If you aren’t able to make your class, we need 24 hours notice for full refund. Fewer than 24 hours notice or No Show = no refund. Please bring basic accessories to all classes: scissors, stitch markers, yarn needles, etc. All of our classes are for tweens and adults twelve years and older. For children's instruction, please call the shop for a list of private instructors who specialize in kids knitting or to arrange a private kid-specific workshop.
