BEGINNING KNITTING with Kim
Saturdays November 1 & 8  ~  1-3pm ~ $45
Instructor: Kim Huhta
Learn how to cast on, cast off, knit, purl, and follow a pattern. This class is perfect for those who want to knit scarves, ponchos, hats, pillows, blankets—any of a variety of basic garments and items. Materials: 190 yards or more of worsted weight yarn (ex. 1 skein of Cascade 220 or Brown Sheep Lamb's Pride Worsted) & US size 8 or 9 needles,(Kim: "preferably bamboo straights"). Instructions and pattern will be provided. Registered students receive 15% off class materials.

 

SKILLS WORKSHOP
Thursday November 6  ~ 6:30-8:30pm ~ $15
Instructor: Kira Dulaney
This workshop is an intensified, personalized class/help session. Bring your project or questions and get expert help, whether you'd like to learn how to read or modify a pattern, learn a new stitch, finish a garment, or fix mistakes. All levels welcome from intermediate to advanced knitters and crocheters. This is not a beginning knitting or crocheting class, you must already know the basics to attend. This workshop requires advanced sign-up.

 

BEGINNING CROCHET with Kira
Fridays November 7 & 14  ~ 6-8pm ~ $45
Instructor: Kira Dulaney
Crochet is fast and fun. In this two-part class you'll learn the basic stitches while making a cute stuffed bunny and also start a crocheted scarf. We will cover chain stitch, single crochet, half-double crochet, double crochet, and triple crochet. 

Materials: 200 yards smooth worsted or aran weight yarn and a size F or G crochet hook, plus darning needle, removable stitch markers and sharp scissors. Bunny pattern and stuffing will be provided as part of the class. 

BEGINNING KNITTING with Teri
Saturdays November 15 & 22  ~  12:30-2:30pm ~ $45
Instructor: Teri Barr
Learn to cast-on, bind-off,  knit and purl, all the basics to make a scarf or shawl.  Start now and finish in time for a holiday gift.  You'll be amazed at what you can do with just knit and purl stitches. Materials: 190 yards or more of worsted weight yarn & US size 8 or 9 needles, preferably bamboo. Instructions will be provided. 
 

KNITTING LEVEL II: Knitting in the Round
Tuesdays November 18 & 25 ~ 6:30-8:30pm ~ $45
Instructor: Amy Keefer
Learn how to knit in the round and make a great, basic hat. This class is the perfect next step after learning how to knit and purl. Students will be prepared to make hats, cowls and tubular projects of all kinds. Materials: 150 yards bulky weight yarn (3.5 sts=1") size 9 and size 10.5 16" circular needles, a set of 5 double pointed needles, tapestry needle and locking stitch markers. 

 

ARM KNITTING WORKSHOP
Sundays November 23 ~ 4-6pm ~ $25
Instructor: Amy Keefer
Learn to knit an oversized wrap or cowl with big-BIG stitches, using no needles at all . . . Just your arms! Amazingly fast and fun, you will be able to finish an entire wearable piece in just 1 class. Perfect technique for last-minute gift knitting. Materials: 1 skein Cascade Magnum, and a large darning needle.

KNITTING LEVEL II: Zebra Cowl
Tuesdays December 2 & 9 ~ 6:30-8:30pm ~ $45
Instructor: Amy Keefer
Take your colorwork knitting to the next level with a fashion forward animal print cowl. This class is perfect for knitters that want to sink their teeth into stranded 2-color knitting and working from charts. gMaterials: 2 contrasting colors of sport weight yarn, US size 3 (3.25 mm) and US size 5 (3.75) mm circular knitting needles (both 24" in length), stitch markers.

BEGINNING CROCHET with Teri

In this two-part class you'll learn the basic stitches.  We will cover chain stitch, slip stitch, single crochet, half-double crochet, double crochet, and make a cute hat that can be sized to fit a child or an adult.

Materials: one ball (200+ yards) of  worsted  weight yarn; H, I, or J  crochet hook; darning needle.

KNITTING LEVEL II: Knitting in the Round + Color
Thursdays December 11 & 18 ~ 6:30-8:30pm ~ $45
Instructor: Amy Keefer
Learn to knit in the round and work with two colors in this Level 2 Class. You will learn to work on circular needles as well as double pointed needles and work through striping and fair isle knitting while you make an adorable hat! Students must know how to cast on, knit and purl. Add some color to your knitting!
Materials: 130 yds worsted weight yarn in main color, 70 yards for contrasting color.
Sizes 7 and 9 16" circular knitting needles, and set of 5 double pointed needles
(also size 9), Locking stitch markers and a darning needle

**All Article Pract customers are welcome, please restrict the projects you bring in to projects made with yarn purchased at our store. 15 minute sessions, no appointment neccessary, and free with purchase.

Hands-On Help is not a substitute for knitting lessons or individual instruction. If you require more help, you may want to consider taking one of our our Level II or intermediate classes or attending our Skills Workshop which happens the first Thursdsay evening of each month. 
We respectfully request that attendees not take advantage of this free service. 

Enroll early as class size is limited. Although we anticipate full registration for all classes, we reserve the right to cancel a class due to poor enrollment. In this circumstance your fee will be refunded in full. If you aren’t able to make your class, we need 24 hours notice for full refund. Fewer than 24 hours notice or No Show = no refund. Please bring basic accessories to all classes: scissors, stitch markers, yarn needles, etc. All of our classes are for tweens and adults twelve years and older. For children's instruction, please call the shop for a list of private instructors who specialize in kids knitting or to arrange a private kid-specific workshop.
